Leather
For leather jackets or leather coats it is a question of quality level and leather quality whether a Co-Polyamid-powder or a EVA-powder is used. Both kind of polymers could be bonded at low bonding conditions.
If big parts has to be covered by interlinings, a powder point coating is recommended (better touch).
In case of small areas scatter coating is efficient.
Shoes:
Due to quite low bonding temperature needed for EVA-powders these products are extremely suitable for bondings in the shoe industry. Higher temperatures would damage leather surfaces and stiffen the lamination.
Exceptions are synthetic interlinings (sport shoes) where the adhesion of EVA-powder is quite poor. Co-Polyamides or even other hot-melts may have a much better adhesion for the lamination of these synthetic materials to leather.
Normally all these powders are applied by scatter coating. Powder point coating is needed if the leather quality is thin and light. It will have the advantage of more softness of the laminate compared with scatter coating (abifor 1605 0-200 my).
In case of leather types with a high grease content, the adhesion of EVA is not efficient anymore. So powders like abifor 1616 or abifor 1639 has to be used.
Upholstery:
For functional car seats and comfortable upholstery with tough surfaces abifor hot-melt powders are used depend on the sensitivity of the leather.
